Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

4 cups fresh broccoli florets

1 red bell pepper, sliced

1 medium onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced

1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 tablespoon cornstarch

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

2 tablespoons water

1 teaspoon sugar

Salt and pepper to taste

Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes while you prep the vegetables.

Stir-Fry Veggies: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Toss in the broccoli florets, bell pepper slices, and onion. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are vibrant and slightly tender. Remove them from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Beef: In the same pan, add the marinated beef along with any remaining marinade. Stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes, or until the beef is browned and cooked through. Ensure not to overcrowd the pan; you can do this in batches if necessary.

Combine and Finish: Return the stir-fried vegetables back into the skillet with the beef. Add sesame oil and 2 tablespoons of water to create a bit of steam. Toss everything together and stir-fry for another 2 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through. Adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.

Serve: Remove from heat and serve over cooked rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired.
